About this site
Public Fighting Fish is the "public information arm" of FAKE FISH, the Federal Aquatic Knowledge Exchange, Fighting-Fish Standards Integrity and Husbandry. FAKE FISH is not a real organisation. It is a work of satire concerning paperwork, pets and the very serious manner in which official documents address very small matters.
What is real here
- The jokes.
- Two optional one-off purchases: the $3.49 (AUD) Official Fighting-Fish Owner's Handbook on the Support the Registry page, a printable joke PDF; and the A$19 First 30 Days guide in Real Care, a 6-page PDF with a 30-day checklist of genuine betta care.
- The Real Care section, which is genuine care information and not part of the satire.
- The Registry's contact address for refunds and enquiries is: fakefightingfish@gmail.com.
- The standard of care the Registry trusts owners will provide to their actual fish.
What is not real
- Every Act, Regulation, Ordinance, section and schedule.
- Every condition, symptom, diagnostic criterion and treatment.
- Every form, fee, statistic, consultation, minister and statement.
- The Registry, the Registrar and the large book with the ribbon bookmark.
Sister site
Fake Fighting Fish lets you send a friend a (clearly disclosed) joke registry notice about their fish, and lets them play along.
Looking after real fish
Fighting fish need warm, clean, filtered water, a lid and a proper diet. Owners are advised to follow the guidance of a veterinarian or a reputable aquarium supplier, rather than that of a satirical registry.
