Appendices

Appendix G — Official Fish Naming

inserted 1987 / amended 2003

G.1 Allocation

The Australian Government has (fictionally) allocated official names to all fighting fish for the purposes of identification and location tracking. Upon registration, owners will be supplied with the official name attached to the data dot microscopic tracking device affixed beneath the scales of all fighting fish. Parody satire — no official names, data dots or tracking devices exist.

G.2 Form of the official name

Official names consist of a rank, a surname and a three-digit number.

G.2.1 Household names

Owners may continue to use the household name. The fish has not been consulted on either name and has indicated no preference.

G.3 Names already taken

Names already in use, including Thug Math, are listed under the Fish Naming Act 2011, section 6. Applicants are required to confirm that a proposed household name is not taken.

G.4 Middle names

A middle name may be inserted by Form. A middle name that is identical to the first name is permitted only where the fish is particularly distinguished.

G.6 Retired names (inserted 2003 ahead of G.5, which remains under review)

Names of fish that have received ceremonial honours under Appendix J are retired for a period of one goldfish memory.

G.7 Naming disputes

The provisions formerly contained in this sub-entry have been relocated to Sub-Appendix G-bis (Naming Disputes, Interim Arrangements).

Parody satire — this appendix is fictional and is not advice, except where marked "not satire".
